Frequently Asked Questions

Everything runs on standalone Meta Quest headsets (Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest 3s); no external computer, cables, or dedicated VR room required.

If your team doesn’t have headsets yet, we can advise on the right setup for your pilot, whether you’re starting with two devices or equipping a full classroom. All you need is a Wi-Fi connection and enough open floor space for trainees to stand and move their arms freely.

The virtual environment is built specifically for practicing hands-on biomedical laboratory skills, and that shapes everything about it.

Simulations are developed by people who have worked at the bench, led by our founder, a cell biologist and former biology professor. Celly, the virtual instructor, guides trainees through each procedure step by step and flags errors as they happen, so learners get feedback without an instructor standing over them. Hand tracking replaces controllers, so every gesture, every grip, and every precise motion builds muscle memory and dexterity.

None of that counts unless the skills hold up outside VR. Our study found that trainees with no prior experience could correctly use a micropipette during a blood typing procedure on real equipment after training in the virtual environment.

Most teams are up and running within 2–4 weeks of signing on to the Fantastic Voyage Labs platform. That includes onboarding, device configuration, and trainer walkthroughs.*

We help your IT team with the technical setup and provide guided sessions for both administrators and instructors, so your team doesn’t need in-house VR expertise.

*Assuming headsets have already been purchased.

Every session is automatically tracked and scored, including task completion, time spent on each task, errors made, and mastery of each step. A report is generated at the end of each module and can be shared with instructors, administrators, or anyone else who needs it.

Our library covers foundational lab procedures, with new modules released regularly. You can see the full list on our Courses page.

If your program requires a procedure we don’t yet offer, whether a specialized technique, a company SOP, or a course-specific workflow, our team can develop custom modules built to your requirements. Please reach out to discuss timelines and scope.
